local FBO has a grant to start a youth aviation education program, fixed wing and drone. The city is in talks about having jobs waiting for the graduates of the program. Pacific is seeking partnerships. In short, they offer two tracks: fixed wing and drone.

The drone program is shorter and less expensive. The entire program can be completed in a 2-week intensive. This is being offered this summer and can be scheduled during the school year as well. It could also be scheduled as a weekly class, but it is suggested that an intensive is a more effective route. At the end of the program, students can test for their part 107 license and be eligible for employment as a professional drone pilot (age 16+). Our local government is looking desperately to hire these students for jobs such as fire prevention.

The fixed-wing program is more of a commitment, and more costly, but also is an amazing head start to becoming a professional pilot. The summer intensive for this track concludes with students being signed off to become official students. Pacific has purchased a simulator in addition to their several planes. Similar to the drone program, they can be offered as a weekly class (which a local charter school is going to do with them) or offer a more intensive experience (recommended). Students must be 17 to test for their private pilot license.
