Check out the Program We are Using to Learn Spanish Together this Year!!
I am blogging my homeschool journey. One of the biggest task has been choosing curriculum, so . We are going the eclectic route, mix and matching a bunch of different resources, so I thought it would be nice to write up short nuggets on each subject or resources we have chosen! We will update you throughout the year to share how it going
Remember high school Spanish class? Me, too! Can you speak Spanish? Yeah, me neither.
People often say if you immerse yourself in a language for a few months in a place like Mexico, fluency will follow. In an ideal world, my family would be world-schoolers (yes, that's a thing), but time and money restrict my homeschool dreams to home for now, so I searched for the next best thing.
Enter ImmerseMe (not to be confused with Immerse Meta), a learning platform that uses 360-degree videography of real people in authentic situations—like a home birthday party, a coffee shop, or asking for directions—where you engage in lifelike virtual conversations!
Watch this YouTube review (https://youtu.be/xc4OXA5j4K4) for a quick introduction.
I signed up for a free trial and had a blast! It's truly impressive. Individuals can choose from 3, 6, or 12-month memberships, granting full access to immersive language practice across 12 languages/cultures, from Novice to Expert.Â
For educators and school administrators, it's even better:
Annual memberships are just $40 per student.Â
The platform’s layout is fully customizable.Â
Whether you follow a textbook or standard curriculum, you can focus on topics and tasks that match your teaching plan.
Teachers/admins can disable specific topics, assign tasks, monitor engagement, track progress, and organize student competitions.Â
Introducing ImmerseMe to your class or school starts with an inquiry, verification as an education service provider, and optional integration into an LMS. Over 500 schools are already on board!
ImmerseMe offers free trials for everyone. In addition to the already robust programming, you can also request access to their AI feature (think ChatGPT for language), currently in Beta. For those interested in VR, they recommend the MetaQuest 2 headset for an extra-immersive experience (they are about $250 on Amazon today).
As we dive into our homeschooling year, I'll update this blog with our progress—maybe even in Spanish!
PS
MyTech High is reimbursing me for my membership and if it is as great as it seems, I will suggest that it be added to the homeroom resources as a free resource for families!
